<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To raise temperature of exhaust gas in a wide operation range and activate a catalyst at an early stage. <P>SOLUTION: In an exhaust emission control device for an engine provided with an oxidation catalyst in an exhaust pipe, a variable valve timing mechanism is controlled to advance close timing of an exhaust valve more than that in an activated state of catalyst temperature (S30), when the oxidation catalyst is not in the activated state (S20) during forced regeneration operation (S10). <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
