<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an analyzer and an analytical method detecting a liquid leakage from a reaction vessel and quickly coping with the liquid leakage without waiting for an analytical result. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The analyzer and the analytical method analyze a specimen, based on the specimen reactive in the reaction vessel 5 and optical properties of a reaction liquid of a reagent. The analyzer 1 is provided with: a liquid leakage detector 20 which detects the liquid leakage from the reaction vessel 5; and a control section 16 which prohibits the use of the reaction vessel and ensures continuation of analytical work with other reaction vessel, when the liquid leakage detector detects the liquid leakage during an analysis of the specimen. The liquid leakage detector 20 detects the liquid leakage from the reaction vessel 5 by the time the reagent is dispensed into the reaction vessel after starting cleaning of the reaction vessel.
