<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To effectively prevent an optical disc device from causing a malfunction due to dust particles that adhere to a transfer roller. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A disc transfer device, including a transfer roller 2 for transferring an inserted disc 1, and roller position control means 5 for controlling the position of the transfer roller so as to be positioned at a transfer position in contact with a surface of the disc when transferring it and positioned at a retracted position without interference with the disc, when the transfer is finished, is provided with a cover member 4 provided rotatably around the axis of the transfer roller and covering the roller surface of the transfer roller to a prescribed extent, and cover position control means 5, 6 and 7 for controlling the cover member so as to be positioned at a first rotational position, without obstructing the contact of the roller surface with the disc surface, when the transfer roller is positioned at the transfer position and positioned at a second rotational position where the roller surface is covered with respect to the disc surface, when being positioned in the retracted position.
