<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information processor capable of shortening a starting time of a device even if a user erroneously discriminates an optical disk. Ž<P>SOLUTION: An optical disk recording/playback device is provided with a switch with which the user sets the type of an optical disk, and has a function which discriminates the optical disk on the basis of information on the type of the optical disk set by the user with the switch and the following, past optical disk discrimination result information, and updates and stores the optical disk discrimination result information in a nonvolatile memory which belongs to the device, or is accessibly read from and written in by the device.
