摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that brightness of a liquid crystal display panel is varied in accordance with whether black display is inserted or not to cause the degradation of display quality. Ž<P>SOLUTION: In a step S101, a panel temperature is measured. When the panel temperature is ≤0°C (YES) in a step S102, processing advances to a step S103 and a black display insertion rate is set to zero. Then, environmental illuminance is measured in a step S104, and in a next step S105, backlight brightness is controlled in accordance with the measured environmental illuminance so as to be suited for the black display insertion rate. Meanwhile, when the panel temperature is >0°C (NO) in the step S102, processing advances to a step S106 and a black display insertion rate is set in accordance with the panel temperature. Then, environmental illuminance is measured in a step S107, and in a next step S109, backlight brightness is controlled in accordance with the measured environmental illuminance so as to be suited for the black display insertion rate.
