<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for connecting plastic optical fibers which effectively, accurately connects an optical fiber filament with another optical fiber filament. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A connector 2 is provided, and a positioning space 23 for connection is provided in the connector 2, and two entrance ends 21, 22 are each provided on both sides of the connector, respectively. By this, the two entrance ends each communicate with the positioning space for connection. Further, the end pars of two plastic optical fibers 1 are covered and then removed to make the optical fiber filaments 12 of the plastic optical fibers laid under an exposing state, and the two plastic optical fibers are each inserted into the two entrance ends, respectively, and then the optical fiber filaments 12 are inserted into the positioning space for connection to connect one optical fiber filament to another optical fiber filament through positioning space for connection. Consequently, the occurrence of a decentering state in this connection is avoided, and the optical fiber filaments of the plastic optical fibers are accurately connected to each other.
