PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a steering column mounting structure capable of temporarily retaining a steering column body on a vehicle body strength member. SOLUTION: The steering column mounting part structure includes the vehicle body strength member 11; a column mounting front side bracket member 12 having a mounting plate 12a extending to a front side of the vehicle, mounted to the vehicle body strength member and fixed with a vehicle front side portion of the steering column body 10; and a column mounting rear side bracket member 13 fixed with a vehicle rear side portion. The steering column body includes a front side mounting part 10a and a rear side mounting part 16, and on the front side mounting part, a slide space 10c extending in a vehicle longitudinal direction in order to allow displacement motion to a front side of the steering column body when external force is applied to the vehicle body is formed. On the mounting plate, an engagement notch part 12e for removably engaging a temporary retaining unit 15 inserted so as to penetrate through the slide space is formed in order to temporarily retain the steering column body.
