<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a plasma display panel having improved light emitting efficiency and reduced manufacturing cost, and to provide its manufacturing method. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The manufacturing method is provided for the plasma display panel 100 comprising a front plate 1 including an electrode for generating main discharge, and a back plate 2 opposed to the front plate 1 and having barrier ribs inside which discharge spaces covered with phosphors 14 are provided. It includes a separation layer forming step of forming a separation layer 4d on a mold 4 having grooved portions 4a which form the discharge spaces of the back plate 2, to cover the surface of the mold 4 including the grooved portions 4a, a metal layer forming step of forming a metal layer 12 on the separation layer 4d, a phosphor forming step of applying the phosphors 14 to the metal layer 12 and firing, a sealing step of sealing the back plate 2 including the phosphors 14 and the metal layer 12 to the front plate 1, and a separating step of separating the metal layer 12 from the mold 4.
