The present invention provides a receiver and a method for the ground broadcast transmission system of a digital television, which are the structure and the method pointed to a receiving terminal system under the multi model of a single carrier wave and multi carrier wave transmission mode coexistence. Through a rational reselection of the interfusion point on the receiving terminal of the single carrier wave disposing mode and the multi carrier wave disposing mode, data determination for the time domain/frequency domain, determination for the system information, and disposition for the multi carrier wave branch is added based on the basic structure of the original single carrier wave receiver, when the single/multi carrier wave mode is switched automatically, the determination and the receiving of the single/multi carrier wave in the same receiver can be realized by controlling the selection of the different single/multi carrier wave disposing data branch.
