<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an internal combustion engine capable of promoting vaporization of injected fuel from a fuel injection device in a combustion chamber. Ž<P>SOLUTION: In the internal combustion engine 10, an injection hole 55 of the fuel injection device 50 is disposed at a peripheral part 22c out of a combustion chamber ceiling wall 22 of a cylinder head 20. The internal combustion engine 10 includes a deflection member 66 rotatably provided with a spindle 64 disposed between an intake port 24e of an intake port 24 and the injection hole 55 out of the peripheral part 22c and capable of deflecting the flowing direction of suction air flow flowing from the intake port 24 to the combustion chamber 40 according to the position of a rotary angle, and an ECU 100 as a control means capable of controlling the fuel injection by the fuel injection device 50 and the rotational angle position of the deviation member 66. The ECU 100 controls the position of the rotary angle of the deflection member 66 so that the flowing direction of the suction air flow is deflected to the suction port 24e side when the fuel injection device 50 injects fuel.
