<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a noise voltage which is outputted from a resolver based on a magnetic field emitted from a field winding, in an electric motor equipped with a field winding and a resolver. Ž<P>SOLUTION: From a field winding wound in field winding slots u1, u1x, u2 and u2x, an odd-symmetry magnetic field, having a field distribution which is symmetric, with respect to the resolver symmetry plane 40 and having a polarity which turns over across the resolver symmetry plane 40 is emitted. For a pair of resolver winding slots, arranged at positions symmetric with respect to the resolver symmetry plane 40, the number of turns of the resolver positive phase winding 34 is equal to that of the resolver opposite phase winding 36 and the winding direction is reversed. Furthermore, the number of turns is set to 0 with respect to the resolver winding slots S11 and S16, where the flux linkage per unit number of turns becomes largest.
