PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cutter head capable of preventing excavated soil from adhering to a section between spokes or a cutter bit, without having to reduce the efficiency of cutting. SOLUTION: This cutter head 5, having an axis arranged concentrically with an axis of a shield machine 1, has an annular main ring frame 30, arranged on a front end side of a barrel member 2 and having a closed cross section structure; a plurality of connection members 31 extended backward from the main ring frame 30; and the cutter bits 32, arranged in three rows on a front face and one row on an outer peripheral side face of the main ring frame 30 and arranged concentrically in four rows separated from each other in the radial direction. Consequently, the number of outer peripheral bit paths can be increased, without increasing the number of spokes, efficiency of excavation can be improved; and required area of an opening in a central part of the cutter head 5 can be ensured of reducing the amount of excavated soil adhering to the section between spokes or of being consolidated therebetween.
