PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rotary hinge mechanism of a vehicle seat allowing a connection shaft to be installed onto a rotating body without a mistake on the direction of installation and easily installed into a positioned state. SOLUTION: The rotary hinge mechanism is applied to a movable headrest device for executing the approaching operation of a headrest 1 toward a head of a seated person when a rear-end collision of a vehicle occurs. A stopper piece 40 which is engaged with a movable body 20 by the rotation and prevents its returning rotation is rotatably connected to a headrest body 10 by a connection shaft 43. The connection shaft 43 is assembled to the stopper piece 40 in the axially penetrating manner. An expansion part 43c formed on the connection shaft 43 in an expanding manner is received by a recess 40b formed in a side face of the stopper piece 40 when the connection shaft 43 is passed through the stopper piece 40 from one side of the axial direction while the expansion part is abutted on the side face on the other side of the stopper piece 40 to prevent the passing-through movement of the connection shaft 43 in the axial direction when it is passed through the stopper piece 40 from the other side of the axial direction.
