The pressure compensator for a fluid pressure system has an elongated resilient bag connected to system pressure and itself contained in a rigid elongate cage. At one end the cage is a removable bung (32) held in the closed position by the bag when inflated. The bung is removed when the bag is deflated by pushing in and rotating the bung, then pulling it past the lip (39). Manual pressure against the bung from outside the cage reveals whether the bag is in order. If the bag is deflated due to damage the bung gives way and can be removed for assembly of a new bag.
