The method involves analyzing images from a monochrome camera sensor (1) mounted in a motor vehicle and evaluating the images by an evaluation device (2). Information from the images is controlled to preset characteristics. An image frequency of the camera sensor is adjusted such that pulsed light sources are differentiated. The image frequency is greater than the doubled pulse frequency. The image frequency is determined by LEDs in a rear light. The images are compared with data stored in a memory.
