<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a write-once type optical recording medium exhibiting satisfactory recording characteristics in a blue laser wavelength region and having satisfactory recording sensitivity and excellent playback light stability. <P>SOLUTION: (1) The write-once type optical recording medium includes a recording layer constituted of a bismuth oxide based material, an upper intermediate layer and an upper protective layer containing A sulfide sequentially from a laser beam radiation side. (2) The write-once type optical recording medium includes an upper protective layer containing a sulfide, an upper intermediate layer and a recording layer constituted of a bismuth oxide based material sequentially from a laser beam radiation side. (3) The upper intermediate layer and/or a lower intermediate layer of the write-once type optical recording medium in (1) or (2) comprise one or two or more composite materials selected from an oxide, a nitride and a carbide.
