PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a differential apparatus for a vehicle capable of reducing cost, by efficiently obtaining necessary differential restricting force enough for improving travel performance. SOLUTION: This differential apparatus includes a planetary carrier 2A rotating by driving torque of a driving source, a planetary gear 2B rotatable by receiving torque of the planetary carrier 2A, a differential mechanism 2 having a sun gear 2C and an internal gear 2D for differentially distributing the torque to a pair of output shafts by receiving the torque of the planetary carrier 2A from the planetary gear 2B, and a differential restricting mechanism 3 having an inner clutch plate 3A and an outer clutch plate 3B for restricting differential of the differential mechanism 2. The differential mechanism 2 is arranged by interposing the planetary carrier 2A between the sun gear 2C and the internal gear 2D, and the sun gear 2C and the internal gear 2D are mutually connected via the inner clutch plate 3A and the outer clutch plate 3B so that the torque can be transmitted.
