PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress a two-electron reaction rate in a fuel electrode.
SOLUTION: The fuel cell of a fuel cell system which uses highly pure hydrogen gas having a hydrogen concentration of 99% or more for generating power comprises an oxidizer electrode 60 to which oxidizer gas is supplied, a fuel electrode 50 to which the highly pure hydrogen gas is supplied, and a polymer electrolyte membrane 6 held between the oxidizer electrode 60 and the fuel electrode 50. The fuel electrode 50 has a fuel electrode catalyst layer 53 holding metal particles containing platinum and a second metal element. The second metal element is at least one element selected from chrome, manganese, iron, cobalt, nickel, copper, molybdenum, ruthenium, rhodium, palladium, silver, tungsten, rhenium, osmium, iridium, and gold.
COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
