PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To evaluate the adjustment or the like of hue and chroma even other than a blue color signal by especially applying a test pattern, a signal generator and a method of evaluating a video device to operation confirmation of various video devices. SOLUTION: A first pattern created by dividing a display screen and sequentially arranging at least white and chromatic band-shaped areas which are generated by combining the ONs and OFFs of red color signals, green color signals and blue color signals, and a second pattern due to arrangement obtained by shifting the first pattern in the direction of arranging the band-shaped areas are arranged.
