<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compact and lightweight optical scanner that can be configured at low cost, wherein the optical scanner can eliminate unnecessary fluctuation caused due to the rocking of a mirror for scanning a laser light and emits the laser light that carries out stable scanning; and to provide an optical reader equipped with the same. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A concave portion 5a is formed on the outer periphery surface of a shaft 5 and at the center of the shaft in an extending direction, so that the inner periphery surface of a bearing hole 14a provided in a scanning mirror body 14 on which a scanning mirror 13 is fixed comes into contact with the outer periphery surface of the shaft 5 at two points each separated in the extending direction of the shaft 5.
