<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fixing device capable of preventing paper wrinkles without stopping a printing operation, and to provide an image forming apparatus. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The fixing device includes: a press-contact member 31 that press-contacts both ends in the width direction of a pressure roller 12 toward a heat roller 11; speed detection members that detect the speed of a sheet conveyed while being sandwiched between the heat roller 11 and the pressure roller 12, at the center part and the end parts in the width direction of the sheet; a gear 35 that adjusts the press-contact force of the press-contact member 31; and a press-contact control section 36 that controls the gear 35 to adjust the press-contact force of the press-contact member 31 based on a ratio of the speed at the end part to the speed at the center part detected by the speed detection members. The press-contact control section 36 is configured to make the press-contact force of the press-contact member 31 larger when the ratio is smaller than a first value that is ≥100%, and make the press-contact force of the press-contact member 31 smaller when the ratio is larger than a second value that is larger than the first value.
