<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a joint seat being excellent in heat resistance and steam resistance, well following expansion and contraction due to a heat cycle, and being suited for use in high-temperature steam pipes, to provide a production method thereof, and to provide a gasket. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The joint seat is prepared by incorporating at least one member selected from among a rubber, a resin, and an additive into a base sheet formed by sheeting a base fibrous material by a paper-making method. The joint production method comprises sheeting a base fibrous material by a dry or wet paper-making method to obtain a base sheet and impregnating the base sheet with at least one member selected from among a rubber, a resin, and an additive or sheeting the base fibrous material and at least one member selected from among the rubber, the resin, and the additive by a dry or wet paper-making method.
