PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gear mechanism capable of taking out the movement in the rotary shaft direction of a first gear from the first gear and a second gear arranged opposite to each other. SOLUTION: This gear mechanism comprises: a first face gear 10; a second face gear 20 arranged opposite to the first face gear 10 and formed with a shaft hole; a pinion gear 30 engaged with the first face gear 10 and the second face gear 20 to rotate the first face gear 10 and the second face gear 20 in opposite directions to each other; a screw 40 fixed as a rotary shaft to the first face gear 10 and inserted into the shaft hole of the second face gear 20 with a distance from the second face gear 20; a nut 50 screwed to the screw 40; and a socket 60 fixed to the second face gear 20 on a side opposite to the first gear side so as to be integrally rotated with the nut 50 and so as to engage the nut 50 slidably in the axial direction of the rotary shaft of the first face gear 10.
