<p>The device (5) has a storage unit (1) for storing an inventory list (IL), which includes a terminal e.g. sep-top box, to be monitored. A communication unit (2) realizes a communication interface (IF) i.e. wireless interface, to the terminal. A timer unit (3) generates a waiting time (T). A control unit (4) controls the communication unit depending on the timer unit and the inventory list, where the control unit generates an alarm signal (ALARM) when no target status response responds to a status request (SRQ) at the terminal within the waiting period.
