SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR AUTOMATICALLY PRODUCING HAPTIC EVENTS FROM A DIGITAL AUDIO FILE

PURPOSE: A system for automatically generating haptic events from a digital audio file and a method therefor are provided to assign haptic effect to at least one audio event, thereby creating a haptic effect control signal or haptic track corresponding to a digital audio or audio/visual file. CONSTITUTION: A digital audio file is processed. The digital audio file has data specialized in plural frequency sub-band signals. In at least one sub-band, plural audio events are identified. Haptic effect is allocated to at least one of the events(1144). A haptic event to be outputted by an actuator is generated. The digital audio file includes the frequency sub-band signals where the audio events are identified. The digital audio file is in MP3 format. Spectral decomposition of audio signals is calculated.
