<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a backlight unit for enhancing light utilization efficiency. <P>SOLUTION: The backlight unit 10 includes a light source 1 including a light emitting diode element 3 and a sealing member 4 having a light outgoing face 4a emitting light generated by the light emitting diode element 3, and a light guide plate 2 having at least a light incident face 2a in which the light source 1 is arranged to face and a light emitting face 2b perpendicular to the light incident face 2a and on the light emitting face 2b there is formed a diffraction lattice pattern 6. Then, on the light outgoing face 4a of the sealing member 4 there is provided a concave portion 4c for a light distribution control formed so that the light outgoing face 4a of the sealing member 4 may have no parallel portion against the light incident face 2a of the light guide plate 2, and the concave portion 4c of the sealing member 4 is structured so that the distribution-controlled light may be introduced into the light guide plate 2 from the light incident face 2a of the light guide plate 2. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
