<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pointing system with excellent operability for a user. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The pointing system is constituted of a pointing device and a terminal. The pointing device includes a light source body for emitting a diffusion light beam including a light beam with high luminance at the center. The terminal includes: a lens body for focusing the diffusion light beam from the pointing device; a light reception body arranged to face the lens body; a determining means for determining the direction of the pointing device, based on the focusing state of the light beam received by the light reception body; a pointer display means for displaying the pointer on a display screen; and a moving means for moving the pointer which is displayed by the pointer display means in response to the direction of the pointing device which is determined by the determining means.
