<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress friction between an optical fiber and a through-hole of an optical connector when obtaining an inserting force Fi of the optical fiber. Ž<P>SOLUTION: An intermediate part of an optical fiber F is held with a holding tool 1 having elastic blocks 14a, 14b. If the holding tool 1 slid to an optical connector, the elastic blocks 14a, 14b provided in the holding tool 1 are elastically deformed by friction with the optical fiber F when the holding tool 1 comes to a prescribed stopping position. The optical fiber F is pressed in the inserting direction by means of the elastic force of the elastic blocks 14a, 14b. Accordingly, while the friction is suppressed with the through-hole of the optical connector caused by the distortion of the optical fiber F, the desired inserting force Fi can be obtained.
