PURPOSE: A messenger apparatus and a method thereof for extending the activation of an emoticon and a flashcon are provided to increase the use of a mobile messenger by gradually broadening an activation range of the emoticon and the flashcon according to the conversation quantity of the messenger. CONSTITUTION: A mobile communications terminal(100) counts the number of transmitted messages when talking to the other terminal user by using a messenger. The mobile communications terminal counts the number of transmitted messages. The terminal gradually activates emoticon whenever the counted messages arrives in to the specific number. An IM(Instant Messenger) server(200) performs a messenger dialogue session between terminals.
