<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a dispersion pre-equalizing optical transmitter employing polar coordinate optical modulator in simple arithmetic unit configuration. <P>SOLUTION: The dispersion pre-equalizing optical transmitter includes a two-electrode type MZ optical modulator 15, a dispersion pre-equalizing arithmetic means 10, a coordinate transforming means 11, a two-electrode type MZ drive data arithmetic means 12, and D/A converters 13a, 13b. The dispersion pre-equalizing arithmetic means 10 uses a transmission data sequence and a dispersion pre-equalizing amount to produce real-part data and imaginary-part data in an orthogonal coordinate system. The coordinate transforming means 11 produces amplitude data and phase data in a polar coordinate system from the real-part data and the imaginary-part data in the orthogonal coordinate system. The 2-electrode type MZ drive data arithmetic means 12 generates two drive signals for driving the two-electrode type MZ optical modulator 15 from the amplitude data and the phase data in the polar coordinate system. The D/A converters 13a, 13b convert the two drive signals into analog driving voltages and supply the voltages to the 2-electrode type MZ optical modulator 15. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
