<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical element for an optical pickup with which the deterioration in characteristics by temperature can be prevented and satisfactory optical characteristics can be stably obtained without increasing mass. <P>SOLUTION: The optical element for the optical element has an objective lens 1 for converging luminous fluxes, aberration correction means 2 and 3 for correcting aberrations, and a holder for fixing the relative positions of the objective lens 1 and the aberration correction means 2 and 3. The aberration correction means 2 and 3 have an aberration correction element 3, and the holder 11 is formed to an annular shape having a hole for passing the light in its central part and is molded of a synthetic resin.
