PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of forming a spacer for liquid crystal display with a sufficiently high positional accuracy by a simple process. SOLUTION: A method of manufacturing the spacer for liquid crystal display including at least: a process of forming a material of which the surface free energy gets to 55mJ/m2or less on the substrate as the first process; and a process of forming such a protrusion as to have a height of 1 to 7μm on the material formed in the first process as the second process, is provided as the method of manufacturing the spacer for a liquid crystal display on the substrate.
