<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an endoscope preventing rupture of a sheath tube by smoothly exhausting air in the sheath tube when environment is decompressed without forming vent holes in the sheath tube of an optical fiber bundle (therefore, without causing damage of the optical fibers). Ž<P>SOLUTION: This endoscope is provided with an optical fiber bundle 10 constituted by bundling multiple optical fibers 11 and covering them with a flexible sheath tube 14, wherein a flexible inserted tube 15 is insertedly disposed in the optical fiber bundle 10 across its substantially whole length, the vent holes 16 are formed in the middle of the sidewall of the inserted tube 15, and one end 15a of the inserted tube 15 is opened to the outside of the optical fiber bundle 10 at a side face part of the optical fiber bundle 10.
