<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect the gradient of a light supply fiber of an optical scanning type endoscope. Ž<P>SOLUTION: This optical scanning type endoscope is provided with a light supply fiber 43 and a fiber drive section 44. The fiber drive section 44 has a bend portion 44b and a fiber support portion 44s. The bend portion 44b has a cylindrical shape. The light supply fiber 43 is inserted into the bend portion 44b. The fiber support portion 44s fixes the light supply fiber 43 to the bend portion 44b. The bend portion 44b bends the light supply fiber 43 based on the fiber drive signal. A portion of the light supply fiber 43 fixed by the fiber support portion 44s is formed with an FBG 47.
