<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the breakage of a retardation plate in a lamination step. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing a stereoscopic image display device includes: a bonding layer formation step of forming a bonding layer 300 on at least one of the incident surface 185 of the retardation plate 180 and the exit surface 171 of an exit-side polarization plate 170; an overlapping step of overlapping the incident surface 185 of the retardation plate 180 and the exit surface 171 of the exit-side polarization plate 170 through the bonding layer 300 after the bonding layer formation step; a periphery bonding step of bonding the peripheral end face 186 of the retardation plate 180 and the exit surface 161 of a pixel panel 160 with a bonding agent after the overlapping step; and the lamination step of laminating the retardation plate 180 and the exit-side polarization plate 170 after the periphery bonding step; where in the periphery bonding step, the bonding agent is applied to the peripheral end face 186 of the retardation plate 180 and the exit surface 161 of the pixel panel 160 in the state where the peripheral end face of the retardation plate 180 is pressurized against the exit surface 161 of the pixel panel 160.
