Disclosed is a pharmaceutical composition comprising an N,N-dihaloamino acid of the formula A-C(R1Ro)R(CH2)n-C(YZ)-X' or a derivative thereof; wherein A is Hal2N-, X is -SO3H, -SO2NH2 or -P(=O)(OH)2 and the remaining substituents are as defined in the specification. The compounds are active bactericidal, antibacterial, anti-infective, antimicrobial, sporicidal, disinfectant, antifungal and antiviral compounds. Also described are processes for their preparation.
