<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the periphery of a branding position of a paotzu 4 from coming into contact with the side face 26b of a seal 26 when the paotzu 4 or a product having resiliency is branded. <P>SOLUTION: A branding apparatus 1 is equipped with a seal 26 having a stamping face 26a on which a prescribed shape is carved, a heater 24 for heating this seal 26, and a support guide 34 which is arranged in a position away from the side face 26b of the exterior of the seal 26. A paotzu 4 is transported to the branding apparatus 1 by a conveyor 6 and photographed by an imaging device 8 arranged upstream from a robot 2 that presses the branding apparatus 1 onto the paotzu 4. A branding position is discriminated by a position discriminating means 12, with the branding apparatus 1 moved to that position and lowered by the robot 2.
