<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a modified wood manufacturing method which enables the production of modified wood with a wood preservative injected in high dimensional accuracy without using lumber larger than a target size as raw material lumber, the modified wood produced by the method, and a building material made of the modified wood. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The modified wood manufacturing method includes a chemical injection process in which a wood preservative solution containing a dimensional stabilizer is injected into lumber having a water content of 20% or below and a prescribed cross-sectional size to expand the lumber, a drying process for drying the solvent of the wood preservative solution injected into the lumber, and a dimensional adjustment process for working the dried lumber to have the prescribed cross-sectional size.
