PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To carry out a nonlinear transformation of a particle signal, without having to use analog nonlinear transducers. SOLUTION: The particle measuring apparatus includes a particle signal detecting section for converting the features of particles included in a sample liquid into analog particle signals; A/D converter sections 8a and 8b that convert the analog particle signals detected by the particle signal detecting section digitally and output resultant signals; storage sections 10a and 10b for storing digital particle signals x output from the A/D converter sections; a nonlinear transforming section 12 which transforms digital particle signals x stored in the storage sections by using a nonlinear function y=f(x); an arithmetic section 13 for calculating the feature parameters of the particles from a transformed value y created by the nonlinear transforming section; and an output section to output results in the arithmetic section.
