<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide toner that hardly degrades even in a printing method such as an intermittent printing in a high-speed system and can maintain a stable charging performance even in a severe use environment, and to provide an image forming method. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The toner includes toner particles containing at least a binder resin and a colorant, to which at least a fatty acid metal salt is externally added, wherein when the median diameter (D50) on a number basis of the toner particles is denoted as D50t (μm) and the median diameter (D50) on a volume basis of the fatty acid metal salt is denoted as D50s (μm), the relationships expressed by 0.02≤D50s/D50t≤0.20, 4.0≤D50t≤9.0 and 0.15≤D50s≤0.90 are satisfied; and when the charge amount of the toner particles and the charge amount of the fatty acid metal salt are denoted as Q1 (mC/kg) and Q2 (mC/kg), respectively, the relationships expressed by -180≤Q1≤-60 and -180≤Q1-Q2≤-50 are satisfied.
