Ž<P>SOLUTION: This electronic endoscope 100 to be inserted into an object to pick up images inside the object includes: a lens holder 19 which is provided with a cylindrical part 15; a lens (objective lens group 17) which is arranged so that an optical axis is aligned with the center axis of the cylindrical part 15, on one end side of the cylindrical part 15; an imaging element 23 which outputs imaging signals for which light fetched from the lens is converted to electric signals; a driving means 21 which moves the lens holder 19 back and forth in the center axis direction; a translucent cover 13 which covers one end side of the cylindrical part 15, and whose part facing the outer peripheral surface of the cylindrical part 15 at least is translucent; and a body part 11 which is connected to the translucent cover 13 and houses the imaging element 23 in the inside.
