PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus and control method thereof, for reducing operation troublesome for a user and controlling the read size of a document in accordance with various execution conditions. SOLUTION: In image forming apparatus, a preset execution condition is confirmed when reading a document and the read size of the document is set in accordance with the execution condition. Specifically, if a suitable document size is registered beforehand, the document size is set as the read size of the document. Even in the case that the user does not register the document size beforehand, minimum user operation is determined for the user and the inputted document size is set as the read size.
