PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a roller bearing for an alternator whose sufficient durability can be stably secured, though at low cost. SOLUTION: The roller bearing 1 for supporting a rotary shaft 13 of an alternator for a vehicle comprises an inner ring 21, an outer ring 22, a rolling element 23 arranged in an annular range between the inner ring 21 and the outer ring 22. At least one bearing element of the inner ring 21, the outer ring 22 and the rolling element 23 is formed of a sintered product consisting essentially ofβsialon represented by a compositional formula of Si<SB>6-Z</SB>Al<SB>Z</SB>O<SB>Z</SB>N<SB>8-Z</SB>and satisfying 0.1≤Z≤3.5 and containing a residual impurity.
