<p>Protein(s) (I), which individually or in combination exhibit(s) toxicity, preferably insecticidal activity, on arthropods, is claimed, where (I): is/are related to naturally occurring proteins in bacteria, based on 16S rRNA gene coding sequence, that are related to the taxonomic system of the Gammaproteobacteria order Legionellales, or related to naturally occurring proteins in bacteria of specific taxon; and exhibits structural characteristics that are based on the toxic effect of (I) on the arthropods. Protein(s) (I), which individually or in combination exhibit(s) toxicity, preferably insecticidal activity, on arthropods, is claimed, where (I): is/are related to naturally occurring proteins in bacteria, based on 16S rRNA gene coding sequence, that are related to the taxonomic system of the Gammaproteobacteria order Legionellales represented as criterion for taxonomic classification according to second edition of Bergey's Manual of Systemic Bacteriology (Garrity GM, Brenner DJ, Krieg NR and Staley JT (Hrsg.), Vol. II: The Proteobacteria. Springer, New York, 2005), or related to naturally occurring proteins in bacteria of specific taxon; and exhibits structural characteristics that are based on the toxic effect of (I) on the arthropods. An independent claim is included for use of gene(s) (which naturally occurs in the genome of the above bacteria, or naturally occurs as its orthology in the genome of other organisms, or obtained by modification of the specified naturally occurring gene or prepared by de novo gene synthesis by which it codes for the structural characteristics, based on the insecticidal activity of the specified naturally occurring gene, associated with the gene products) for producing bioinsecticides or for combating arthropods.
