<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus for detoxifying a liquid containing hazardous components, such as various organic pollutants, offensive odor components, and bacteria. Ž<P>SOLUTION: In the hazardous component-containing liquid treatment method and apparatus, (A) a water-soluble oxidizing agent or fine ozone bubbles are added to and mixed with the hazardous component-containing liquid, and (B) under a condition of ultraviolet irradiation, (C) the hazardous component-containing liquid is made to flow through a packed tower filled with at least one kind of adsorbent selected from the group of (1) pentasil zeolite, (2) zeolite β, (3) ultrastable Y zeolite (USY), (4) mesoporous silicate, (5) ultrastable mordenite (USM), and (6) silica gel which adsorb the water-soluble oxidizing agent or the ozone, and adsorb the hazardous components, (D) to detoxify the hazardous components in the liquid by the effect of adsorption reaction with the water-soluble oxidizing agent or the ozone.
