<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem wherein a detection means that detects a zoom reset position accurately is required for a zoom lens barrel, having a cam ring that translates in the optical axis direction, while rotating about the optical axis. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The optical imaging apparatus includes: a photographic lens that moves in the optical axis direction for performing zoom; a lens-holding frame that holds the photographic lens; the cam ring that has a guidance cam for guiding the lens-holding frame in the optical axis direction and is capable of rotating in the optical axis direction and about the optical axis; a zoom drive system that drives the cam ring; and the detection means that detects a reference position of the zoom drive system, wherein the detection means is integrally provided in the cam ring.
