<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a heat insulating cultivation method by which no planter is required, and leaf vegetables and the like are easily and efficiently cultivated on broad soil even in summer season without causing rise in ground temperature or shortage in water. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The heat insulating cultivation method comprises directly putting a richly heat-insulating plate 1 such as a styrene foam one on the surface of the soil S to hardly dry the surface of the soil S because of having no space between the surface of the soil S and the heat insulating plate 1, and impossibility of air permeation, and secure moisture of the soil S and thereby enable water supply for growth of vegetable and the like. Also, the heat insulating function owing to the heat-insulating plate 1 enables suppression in temperature rise of the soil S to enable cultivation of the vegetables and the like even in hot summer season. Further, a space G between the adjacent plates or a hole H each for irrigation is formed to enable water supply and prevention of shortage in water for hairy roots in the soil S.
