PURPOSE: A device and a method for using an on-screen keypad provided to enable a user to easily input one of a plurality of key values assigned to each key of the on-screen keypad. CONSTITUTION: An input unit selects and inputs a key of an on-screen keypad. A display unit displays the on-screen keypad and an output window for outputting a key value of the inputted key. If a plurality of key values are assigned to the key, a controller(140) distinguishes/displays the selected and unselected key values on the on-screen keypad. The input unit is a touch pad(130) and the display unit is a screen(120).
