PURPOSE: A symmetrical electrochromic metallocene compound is provided to ensure excellent electrochromic response speed and electrochromic stability, and high electrochromic efficiency and color contrast property. CONSTITUTION: A symmetrical electrochromic metallocene compound has a structure represented by chemical formula 1. In chemical formula 1, R^1 and R^2 are independently C1-5 alkyl group; R^3 is selected from C1-20 haloalkyl group in which one or more hydrogen atoms are substituted with halogen atoms, haloalkyl ether group, and haloalkyl ester group; counter ions A^- and B^- are independently selected from a halogen ion, ClO4^-, BF4^-, PF6^-, AsF6^-, SbF6^-, CHCOO^-, CH3(C6H4)SO3^-, CF3SO3^-, (CF3SO2)2N^-, (CF3CF2SO2)2N^-, (CF3SO2)3C^-, (CF3SO2)2N^- and Li(CF3SO2)2N^-; m and n are independently an integer of 0-4; and Me is any one of Cr,Co, Fe, Mg, Ni, Os, Ru and V.
