A ski binding with toe-section jaw and heel mount, and a hinged sole plate that swivels near jaw about a shaft transverse to the longitudinal axis of theski, is connected with the heel of the ski boot via a holding-down component (when a user is actually moving), thus allowing a heel to be lifted off the upper surface of the ski but may be disengaged from the heel (when a user is in starting or descent position). The sole plate is composed of "telescoping" parts. The heel mount of the conventional binding is longitudinally adjustable so that it may engage the heel mount (when in starting or descent position), and disengage (when in touring position). That part of the sole plate upon a skier's boot bears pref. consists of, or is coated with, low-friction material e.g. PTFE.
|
